The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Ambassador Program is available to students pursuing the Associates of Science Core Curriculum in Health Science Pathway. This award is renewable for a total of four (4) semesters when retention criteria are met. Students with this scholarship must maintain a 2.7 GPA and be enrolled full-time with a minimum of 12 credits. hours. The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Ambassador Program encompasses learners from K-12 education through graduate and professional school. As part of the HCOP National Academy at Emory, the Ambassador Program is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Ambassadors are included in the Emory Pipeline Collaborative (EPiC), Health Professions Program, Oxford/Emory College, and Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC).

The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Ambassador Program at Atlanta Metropolitan State College aims to recruit Health Sciences Pathway students from academically and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. All participants will engage in classroom discussions and activities during the fall, spring, and summer semester of the academic year. Upon completing the Associate's Degree at AMSC, students will be eligible to transfer to Emory University to pursue a BSN in Radiation Therapy.

Program Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, permanent resident, or foreign national who possesses a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States.
  • Be economically OR academically disadvantaged.
  • Be enrolled in the Health Sciences Pathway program at AMSC.
  • Possess a 2.7 GPA or greater (cumulative) on a 1.0 - 4.0 scale.
  • Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours each semester.

Award Information

  • $1,000 Stipend; $3,000 Scholarship (AMSC) per academic year
  • $8,000 Scholarship (Emory University)
