Orientation is offered in both online and in-person formats. The in-person format meets all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH) and University System of Georgia (USG) COVID-19 guidelines. Participants have the option to choose the desired format.

During an in-person session, students meet other new students, receive academic advisement, register for classes, and receive information about AMSC's programs and services that will help enrollees become successful college students. In the online session, professional advisors will contact students via their student email (ginger) upon completion of NSO. In the event that you select an in-person session, please arrange to be excused from any other prior commitments.

Online

Participants will be sent an email, including a link and login instructions, to access the online course. Prior to receiving the email, participants will be forwarded a Teams Meeting Invitation to join a Pre-Orientation Q & A. AMSC Student Life and Leadership staff will provide attendees with program expectations, clarify the process, and respond to any questions and/or concerns you may have before you begin the online course.

In-Person

Effective April 2021, AMSC will offer in-person sessions limited to 10 participants per session. The session will include a tour, brief presentations, and opportunities to meet faculty, staff, and other students.

Trailblazer Orientation Ambassadors

Trailblazer Orientation Ambassadors are AMSC student leaders who represent a variety of programs and backgrounds. These student leaders assist students with navigating registration and enrollment processes that are unique to AMSC. Ambassadors will greet participants upon arrival, guide new students through the enrollment process, and help them acclimate to the college environment.

Advisement and Registration

During New Student Orientation students will be advised regarding course selection and registration by a Professional Academic Success Advisor (ASA) from the Center for Academic Advising and Student Success (CAAS). All new students are assigned to an ASA. Students participating in the online NSO should check their AMSC student email frequently for pertinent information from CAAS and your designated ASA upon completion of NSO.
