Strategic Pillar 4 - Recruiting, Developing, Retaining, & Rewarding Talent

Introduction

Pillar #4 is focused on cultivating an intercultural positive growth environment where Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) recruits and retains talent by recognizing accomplishments and creating opportunities for development.

Objective

At AMSC, we will develop strategies to foster a participatory, collaborative environment where excellence and gratitude are encouraged, recognized and reflected in our culture.

Goals

Goal #1:

Foster a sense of belonging and increase morale by cultivating a campus culture of care and appreciation.

Action Steps:

  • November 2024; Administer a baseline survey to assess current campus climate.
  • March 2025 - June 2026; Develop and implement a recognition program.
  • March 2026 - June 2027; Create and implement a staff and faculty mentor program.
  • January 2028; Evaluate/analyze the effectiveness of newly created programs.

Metrics and/or Deliverables:

Goal #2:

Build a strong, collegial community amongst AMSC employees while promoting a culture of accountability.

Action Steps:

  • January 2025 - April 2025; Annual review of position descriptions and clarify roles and responsibilities of employees.
  • June 2025 - ongoing; Provide professional development opportunities.
  • October 2025 - ongoing; Foster a culture of excellence in customer service.
  • CETL narrative (additional conversation with faculty), create a committee.

Metrics and/or Deliverables:

Goal #3:

Design, develop and implement a comprehensive AMSC employee recruitment plan.

Action Steps:

  • November 2024; Create awareness of the University System of Georgia's Total Reward Program.
  • By August 2025; Administer a comprehensive compensation structure.
  • Align AMSC employment recruiting strategy with effective media.
