Breaking Boundaries: AMSC's AGILE Scholars Soar to New Heights

Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) is delighted to celebrate the recent selection of two exemplary students to Study Abroad in Greece, Mr. David Martins and Ms. Juliette Seymour, who were participants in the prestigious Advancing Global Inclusive Leadership Education (AGILE) program for the year 2024. Founded by Dr. Heather Scott and Dr. Seneca Vaught, AGILE offers transformative cultural and professional development opportunities for historically underrepresented students in study abroad initiatives. For the past two years, AMSC has actively engaged with the AGILE program, aligning with its mission of fostering Global Leadership. This initiative, which encompasses co-curricular activities focusing on leadership development, communication, and networking, has been instrumental in broadening the horizons of AMSC students. Under the guidance of Dr. Heather Scott, Assistant Dean for Inclusive Leadership Curriculum and Co-Curriculum, AMSC students have had the privilege of collaborating with peers from diverse institutions and industry leaders, including representatives from Delta Air Lines. Dr. Scott expressed her gratitude for Delta Air Lines' generous support, which has played a pivotal role in all program participants' academic and leadership development. The educational curriculum assigned to the students was provided by Dr. Seneca Vaught, ensuring the participant's learning outcomes for global leadership and success. This curriculum, meticulously crafted to enhance students' understanding of international issues and their ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts, is a cornerstone of the AGILE program's success.

The selection of Mr. David Martins and Ms. Juliette Seymour as AGILE Scholars from AMSC was approved by Dr. Meda Rollings, Associate Vice President for Student Success at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. Dr. Rollings' endorsement underscores AMSC's commitment to providing transformative opportunities for its students. Joining Mr. David Martins and Ms. Juliette Seymour on this remarkable journey are students from Agnes Scott College, Kennesaw State University, and Emory University. Additionally, Ms. Tocarro Combs, Director of Student Life and Engagement, who will serve as the student's chaperone and AGILE program's student conduct officer, ensuring adherence to community standards while studying abroad, and Ms. Kenya Casey, Director of Global Security and Safety at Emory University, who served as the program's advisor for security standards, policy, and procedures.

Mr. Martins, as the President and Founder of the AMSC International Club and Parliamentarian for the AMSC Student Government Association, has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering cultural understanding and inclusivity within the college community. Similarly, Ms. Juliette Seymour's leadership prowess shines through her role as President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK), where she has showcased her commitment to academic excellence and leadership responsibilities.
