This unique program explores classes such as Survey of Christian History, Old Testament, Pastoral Ministry, Christian Worship and more!

Learn from seminary trained faculty and develop a better understanding of religion in our world today.

The purpose of the program is to provide a unique experience of biblical studies. It provides realworld application. Our program is designed for those who have limited biblical knowledge and can appeal to those who have ministry experience. The purpose is also to accommodate those who may not desire to pursue a seminary degree.

The Religious Studies program is one of a kind in the University of Georgia System. It is convenient, relevant, and accessible for the working adult.

  1. How long is the program?
    The program should take one year and includes 18 credit hours of course work (6 required classes).

  2. How can I take classes?
    Many core classes will be available online. There will be opportunities to take classes on campus as well.

  3. How much does this certificate program cost?
    On average, it costs $100/per credit hour per course. For example, a 3 credit hour course would be $300. Students who are Georgia residents and are 62 years of age and older may attend the program for free.

  4. When does the program start?
    Students will begin together in August 2020 as a cohort.

  5. Can I transfer credits to a seminary when I am done?
    A seminary will require that you have a bachelor's degree. The credits that you gain in the religious studies certificate program can lead to the completion of an associate or bachelor's degree. However, it supplies a great foundation if one wants to continue theological education.

  6. Who will teach these courses?
    Qualified instructors who have completed a master or terminal degree in religious studies or divinity will teach the courses.

  7. How do I register? Is there a deadline?

  8. Do I need a college degree to begin this program?
    No college education is required; however, a student must be a high school graduate.
