Applying for Veterans Education Benefits

HOW TO APPLY IF YOU ARE A: Veteran, Serviceperson, or Selected Reserve:

Please submit the following:

  1. VONAPP Form 22-1990 (Veterans Online Application) or a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility. PLEASE NOTE: If you are a transfer student and have used your VA benefits at another institution please submit VA form 22-1995 in the place of form 22-1990.
  2. DD214 Member 4 Copy (if applicable)
  3. Notice of Basic Eligibility/NOBE (if applicable)
  4. Kicker Contract (if applicable)
  5. Buy-Up (if applicable)

The following VA chapters are required to verify monthly attendance via WAVE( Web Automated Verification of Enrollment ) to avoid an interruption in payments:

  • Chapter 30 (Active Duty)
  • Chapter 1606 (Selective Reserve)
  • Chapter 1607 (Reserve Education Assistance Program)

HOW TO APPLY IF YOU ARE A: Dependent or Spouse: Chapter 35

Please submit the following:

  1. VONAPP form 22-5490 (Veterans Online Application) or a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility. PLEASE NOTE: If you are a transfer student and have used your Survivors/Dependents' benefits at another institution please submit VA form 22-5495> in the place of form 22-5490.
  2. Please direct any payment inquiries to the Department of Veteran Affairs at (888) 442-4551 or visit them on the web at www.gibill.va.gov

HOW TO APPLY IF YOU ARE A: Transient VA Student

Please submit the following:

Transient Permission Form (Please obtain a certified copy from your home institution. You are required to submit this document to the enrollment office and a copy to your VA certifying official each semester you attend.

Chapter 32 Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)

VEAP is available if you first entered active duty between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985 and you elected to make contributions from your military pay to participate in this education benefit program. Your contributions are matched on a $2 for $1 basis by the Government. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances
