ADMISSIONS INSTRUCTIONS AND CHECKLISTS

 

Listed below are the specific documents needed by category of admission. Submit all documents to the Office of Admissions prior to the Preferred Priority Date. Any documents submitted after this date cannot be guaranteed admission for the requested term.


Preferred Priority Processing Datescheck

Freshman

This category is for students who have never attended college. And students who have attended college and will transfer less than 30 hours of college credit.

Required documents

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Verification of Lawful Presence
  • Certificate of Immunization

Criteria for Admission
Academic diploma from a regionally accredited high school with a GPA of 2.00 or higher


Transfer

This category is for students who will transfer 30 hours or more of college credit.

Required documents
1. Application
2. $20.00 non-refundable fee
3. Official transcripts from all colleges attended
4. Verification of Lawful Presence
5. Certificate of Immunization

Criteria for Admission
1. Transfer at least 30 hours of college credit
2. Eligible to return to previous institution


Post-Baccalaureate Student

This category is for students who have earned a Bachelor's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution recognized by the University System of Georgia. Students in this category do not intend to earn an additional degree at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. Students seeking a degree must meet transfer student requirements.

Criteria for Admission

2. Bachelor's degree or higher


Transient Student

This category is for students who are currently enrolled in another college or university and want to take courses for one semester to transfer those course(s) back to their home institution.

Required documents
1. Application
2. $20.00 non-refundable fee
3. Certificate of Immunization
4. An approved official transient letter from the Chief Academic Officer or Registrar of the institution the student is currently attending. This letter must include:

(a) Permission to enroll at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. (Students who wish to enroll for a second transient semester must submit an updated transient permission letter for that term).
(b) A statement that the student is eligible to return to the institution at which they are currently enrolled.
(c) A list of the courses to be taken at Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

5. Verification of Lawful Presence
6. Additional for International (F-1 Visa) students. A letter from the International Student Office at your current school indicating they will be responsible for your I-20 while you study at Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

Home-Schooled Students

This category is for students who have completed their high school courses at a non-accredited high school or homeschool.

Required documents
1. Application
2. $20.00 non-refundable fee
3. High school course transcript
4. Portfolio of high school work
5. Official transcript from all colleges attended
6. Verification of Lawful Presence
7. Certificate of Immunization
8. SAT or ACT Score

Criteria for Admission
1. Portfolio that demonstrates completion of the Required High School Courses (RHSC)
2. SAT Critical Reading - 430; SAT MAT - 400; or ACT Verbal - 17, ACT Math -17



Dually Credit

Dual Enrollment

This category is for students who wish to take college course while still in high school.

Required documents
1. Application
2. $20.00 non-refundable fee
3. Current Official high school transcript
4. Parental Consent Form
5. Official transcript from all colleges attended, if applicable
6. Certificate of Immunization
7. SAT, ACT, or ACCUPLACER

Criteria for Admission
1. High school GPA of 3.00 or higher
2. SAT - 1050 ERW + Math, at least 480, Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 440 Math or
ACT - Composite of 20 with English or Reading 17, Math 17 or
ACCUPLACER 237 Reading 4 WritePlacer 258 Quantiative, Reading, Algebra and Statistics

Early College

This category is for students who are taking college courses while enrolled at certain high schools in the Atlanta area.

Required documents
1. Application
2. $20.00 non-refundable fee
3. Current Official High school transcript
4. Parental Consent Form
5. Official transcript from all colleges attended, if applicable
6. Certificate of Immunization
7. Placement exams

Criteria for Admission
1. High school GPA of 2.50 or higher

2. SAT - 1050 ERW + Math, at least 480, Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 440 Math or
