ADMISSIONS INSTRUCTIONS AND CHECKLISTS

 

Listed below are the specific documents needed by category of admission. Submit all documents to the Office of Admissions prior to the Preferred Priority Date. Any documents submitted after this date cannot be guaranteed admission for the requested term.


Preferred Priority Processing Datescheck

Freshman

This category is for students who have never attended college. And students who have attended college and will transfer less than 30 hours of college credit.

Required documents
> Application
> $20.00 non-refundable fee
> Official high school transcript or GED
> Official transcripts from all colleges attended
> Verification of Lawful Presence
> Certificate of Immunization
> Placement Exam (ACCUPLACER for Associates, SAT/ACT for Bachelors)

Criteria for Admission
1. Complete file
2. Academic diploma from a regionally accredited high school with a GPA of 2.00 or higher
3. Acceptable SAT/ACT scores or acceptable ACCUPLACER scores for Degree and Major


Transfer

This category is for students who will transfer 30 hours or more of college credit.

Required documents
> Application
> $20.00 non-refundable fee
> Official transcripts from all colleges attended
> Verification of Lawful Presence
> Certificate of Immunization
> Placement Exam (if needed)

Criteria for Admission
1. Complete file
2. Transfer at least 30 hours of college credit
3. Eligible to return to previous institution
4. SAT/ACT scores to exempt Learning Support or acceptable Placement Exams if needed for placement


Post-Baccalaureate Student

This category is for students who have earned a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution recognized by the University System of Georgia. Students in this category do not intend to earn an additional degree at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. Students seeking a degree must meet transfer student requirements.

Criteria for Admission

2. Bachelor’s degree or higher


Transient Student

This category is for students who are currently enrolled in another college or university and want to take courses for one semester to transfer those course(s) back to their home institution.

Required documents
> Application
> $20.00 non-refundable fee
> An approved official transient letter from the Chief Academic Officer or Registrar of the institution the student is currently attending. This letter must include:

o Permission to enroll at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. (Students who wish to enroll for a second transient semester must submit an updated transient permission letter for that term).
o A statement that the student is eligible to return to the institution at which they are currently enrolled.
o A list of the courses to be taken at Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

> Certificate of Immunization
> Additional for International (F-1 Visa) students. A letter from the International Student Office at your current school indicating they will be responsible for your I-20 while you study at Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

Home-Schooled Students

This category is for students who have completed their high school courses at a non-accredited high school or homeschool.

Required documents
> Application
> $20.00 non-refundable fee
> High school course transcript
> Portfolio of high school work
> Official transcript from all colleges attended
> Verification of Lawful Presence
> Certificate of Immunization
> SAT or ACT

Criteria for Admission
1. Complete file
2. Portfolio that demonstrates completion of the Required High School Courses (RHSC)
3. SAT critical reading 430 and math 400, or ACT verbal 17 and math 17



Dually Enrolled

Move on When Ready (MOWR)

This category is for students who wish to take college course while still in high school and use those courses for both high school and college credit.

Required documents
> Application
> $20.00 non-refundable fee
> Current Official high school transcript
> Parental Consent Form
> Official transcript from all colleges attended, if applicable
> Certificate of Immunization
> SAT/ACT or ACCUPLACER Scores

Criteria for Admission
1. Complete file
2. High school GPA of 3.00 or higher
3. SAT combined critical reading and math score or 970 with critical reading at least 430 and math at least 400 or ACT Composite of 20 with verbal at least 17 and math at least 17

Early College

This category is for students who are taking college courses while enrolled at certain high schools in the Atlanta area.

Required documents
> Application
> $20.00 non-refundable fee
> Current Official High school transcript
> Parental Consent Form
> Official transcript from all colleges attended, if applicable
> Certificate of Immunization
> Placement Exams

Criteria for Admission
1. Complete file
2. High School GPA of 2.50 or higher
3. ACCUPLACER scores that will exempt from Learning Support Courses
