Faculty of the Month

Dr. Vasanta Chivukula, Assistant Professor of Biology, received her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida in Applied and Environmental Microbiology. Dr. Chivukula was hired as a part-time faculty in August 2009 and became full-time in August 2010. Dr. Chivukula is highly rated by her students, and is popular academically for preparing students for graduate and professional school.

Staff of the Month

Dr. Bonita E. Flournoy is the Dean of the Division of Science, Mathematics and Health Professions. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in Science Education. She joined Atlanta Metropolitan State College in August 2010 for the position of Chairperson of the Division of Natural Science and Professor of Chemistry. Her title was later changed to Dean of Science, Mathematics , and Health Professions. Dr. Flournoy was previously employed with Columbus State University as an Associate Professor. She has a distinguished career and has led varous initiatives for the University System and State..
