How do I apply?

Welcome to Atlanta Metropolitan State College! We are excited that you are considering your educational journey with us. Below, you will find the simple steps required to receive an admissions decision. Keep in mind that with submission of steps 1 and 2, we can move forward with reviewing your application for a decision while you work on the remaining steps. If you have any questions, contact our team via the contact information at the bottom of the page.

  • Step 1: Complete and submit admissions application online
  • Step 2: Submit your high school/GED and/or college transcripts (if you have attended any other colleges)
    For the fastest response, all Georgia residents may use the high school link above to request that your high school transcript be sent us. If you have attended any other colleges or attended a high school out of state, contact your institution and have your transcripts sent electronically to admissions@atlm.edu or 1630 Metropolitan Parkway, SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.
  • Step 3: Submit your Lawful Presence document to admissions@atlm.edu
  • Step 4: Submit your certificate of immunization record
  • Step 5: Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) There is no need to wait! Though completing the financial aid application has no bearing on an admissions decision, it is an important step to complete early in the process. Go to www.studentaid.gov to complete the online application today. AMSC's federal school code is: 012165

Note: ACCUPLACER is the current test that is being used for course placement at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. Testing is not a requirement for college admission, but the reason to take the ACCUPLACER test is to exempt out of corequisite learning support Math and English classes. If you have not already taken this exam, or if you have not earned transferring English and Math credit, you have the option to take this exam to eliminate taking extra courses.

Located in the historic Sylvan Hills neighborhood in southwest Atlanta, the 65 acres that make up the campus are only 3 minutes from downtown Atlanta and 10 minutes to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. For directions to the campus: Google Maps

Atlanta Metro is serviced by two Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) bus routes. Route 95 drops you off directly in front of the famous AMC gate along Metropolitan Parkway. Route 295 is an express bus which comes through campus and drops you off in front of building 100. For directions to the campus: Google Maps

You can afford it.

In previous academic years, students registered for 15 or more credit hours per semester: Georgia Resident - $2,056, Out-of-State Resident - $6,197. Students may be eligible to receive financial aid to assist with the cost of college. To receive financial aid to attend Atlanta Metro, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and use school code: 012165. Apply here.

You can learn online.

AMSC offers online courses in addition to traditional face-to-face courses throughout the day and evening. The online courses afford students the opportunity to earn college credits without having to come to campus. Online instructors have regular office hours for students who wish to have face-to-face interaction with their instructors. For more information.

Get credit for your work experience.

Adult learners with work experience, may be able to get college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). PLA is a process through which students:

  • Identify areas of relevant learning from their past experiences
  • Demonstrate learning through testing, portfolio assessment, and credit recommendation from nationally recognized organizations
  • Receive academic credit based on acceptable evaluation
Active and retired military are welcome.

AMSC is known as a military-friendly institution. The Military Resource Center is a one-stop shop that addresses all of the needs of military students-from academic to financial aid and admissions counseling.

Why not start college now?

You're remarkable. Nothing is stopping you. At AMSC, our dual enrollment and early college programs introduce high school students to college-level coursework. Students can earn college credits while still in high school. Dual enrollment also helps students adjust to certain aspects of the college experience so the transition from high school to college may be easier.

To participate in AMSC's dual enrollment program, a student must submit admissions documents and meet the following requirements:

Dual Enrollment

  • Admissions application
  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0
  • Official scores from SAT, ACT or ACCUPLACER (must meet required minimum cutoff score)
  • Signed parental consent form

Early College

  • Admissions application
  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5
  • Official scores from SAT, ACT or ACCUPLACER (must meet required minimum cutoff score)
  • Signed parental consent form
