Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) is an access institution that specializes in providing educational and social experiences that help students reach their highest potential. AMSC's students, faculty, and staff are from diverse cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. AMSC offers transfer programs for students who plan to receive an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree and then transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor's degree. Atlanta Metropolitan State College will offer its first Bachelor of Science with a major in Biological Science starting fall 2011. This degree is specifically designed to increase the pipeline of students who earn degrees in STEM disciplines: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It will also prepare students for professional schools in the health sciences such as Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy.
AMSC also offers a variety of Dual Enrollment Programs to high school students providing opportunities for acceleration of their formal academic programs. High school students are able to enroll in courses for college credit while they are continuing their coursework in high school as a junior or senior.
