Thank you for considering Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) for pursuing your academic goals. The following information will assist you in the admission process. International applicants should complete the application process at least 60 days prior to the first day of registration for the entry term. This will allow time for submitting necessary documents, completing admissions requirements, and taking steps to obtain an F-1 visa.

Admission Requirements for International Students:

  • Completed Application
  • $20 application fee paid by check or money order (non-refundable)
  • Official high school transcripts, transcript evaluations, and test scores with certified translations
  • Official College transcript for each college attended (photo copies and faxes are not acceptable), along with transcript evaluations
  • Certificate of Immunization signed by a health care provider Click here to download Certificate
  • Applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency documented by at least one of the following:
    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Score - Paper Test Score -523 (Or)
    • TOEFL Computer Test Score - 193 (Or)
    • SAT Verbal I Score - 430 (Or)
    • ACT English Score - 17

Applicants who wish to receive transfer credit from a college or university outside the United States must submit an official college transcript evaluation from a professional academic credential evaluation agency. Evaluations from the following agencies are accepted by Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

Required Forms and Documents:

  1. An International Student Financial Statement Form (provides applicant identification information, names of dependents who will accompany the applicant to the United States, names of sponsors who will provide financial support, and the name of a contact person in the United States who may assist applicant with receiving and sending information)
  2. A Letter of Support from Sponsor(s) (confirms that the sponsor is committed to providing financial support to the applicant)
  3. Bank Statement(s) (verifies the amount of money sponsors have available to support the applicant for two semesters)
  4. International Student Identification and Contact Information (provides applicant's identification information, current U.S., Address, E-Mail Address, current phone number, and foreign address)
  5. An International Student Transfer Form (provides release of I-20 from college or university where applicant is currently a student)

After satisfying all admissions requirements, AMSC's international student advisor will issue an I-20 to the applicant. In order to receive an F-1 visa, which permits an international applicant to study at a college or university in the United States, the applicant must present the following documents at the U.S. Embassy in their Country:

  1. I-20 Form from Atlanta Metropolitan State College;
  2. Letter of acceptance for admission to Atlanta Metropolitan State College;
  3. I-901 SEVIS fee payment receipt;
  4. Financial statements and proof of financial support from sponsors;
  5. Receipt for paying the mandatory SEVIS fee of $100 must be presented.
