General Information

2022 Commencement - Friday, May 6th

Graduate Check-in: Graduate Check-in: Graduates must check-in at 8 am in the pavilion of Building 800.

Ceremony location/venue: The commencement ceremony will be held in the gymnasium at Atlanta Metropolitan State College, located at 1630 Metropolitan Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30310.

Guest Tickets

Eligible AMSC graduates who submitted an online reservation form for commencement by the April 1st deadline will receive five guest tickets at the mandatory graduation rehearsal on Wednesday, May 4th at 4 pm in the gymnasium in Building 700. Graduation rehearsal will be from 4:00-5:30 pm.

Graduates must check-in at 8 am in the gymnasium in Building 700. Guests should proceed to the quadrangle with their guest tickets to be seated, and graduates will remain at the check-in area for the commencement processional line-up.

Guest tickets are required to enter the gymnasium area. Guest tickets are for general admission. All guests older than two will need a guest ticket to enter the venue. Children under the age of two are allowed to sit on their parent’s lap. The venue will open one hour before the ceremony starts.

AMSC wishes to accommodate the most possible guests for this special event. Family and friends who cannot attend in person are encouraged to celebrate via live stream at www.atlm.edu.

Parking

Parking for all Commencement ceremonies is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please follow the parking directions provided upon arrival.

Disability Access

Wheelchair seating accommodations will be available at a designated area on the quadrangle.

An ASL interpreter will sign the commencement ceremony. A section of general admission seating will be designated for the hearing impaired. An AMSC usher can direct guests to the designated location.

Disability Parking (Permit Required)

Parking for guests with disabilities is available in designated areas. Disability Parking Permits are required to park in these areas.

Face Coverings

Face coverings (over the nose and mouth) are encouraged for this event. Disposable masks will be available at the front gate. Graduates will be provided a face mask at check-in.

Face coverings are not a substitute for social distancing, and guests are asked to keep a safe distance between their party and others while at the commencement ceremony.

Viewing Options

We encourage those unable/unwilling to attend the in-person ceremony to view the ceremony online. Links will be posted at www.atlm.edu.

Prohibited Items

Security has the right to inspect any item at any time for safety.

Prohibited items must be returned to cars or disposed of before entering and will not be accepted by employees nor stored at the entrance.

For the safety, security, and experience of all guests, the following items are prohibited:

  • Alcohol
  • Glass and aluminum containers
  • Large items, such as banners and posters, or amplification equipment, such as bullhorns or megaphones and balloons
  • There will be a holding area for all strollers brought in for small children.

AMSC is a tobacco-free campus.

Restrooms

  • Restroom facilities are available in the 700 and 800 Buildings.
  • Attendants will be assigned to restrooms to aid with sanitizing touchpoints.

Cleaning & Safety Precautions

  • All restrooms and common areas used for commencement activities will be sanitized before the ceremony.
  • Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the venue.
  • Free bottled water will be available for guests.
