General Information

CANDIDATES

  • All candidates Must Check-in before 8:00am at the pavilion of Building 700
  • All candidates Must Remain in the holding area for the processional line up
  • An RSVP is required to participate. Please RSVP before 08 March 2024 (click here to RSVP).
  • Eligible AMSC graduates who submitted an online reservation form for commencement by the 08 March deadline will receive five guest tickets.
  • Rehearsal is mandatory and will be held on Wednesday, 01 May 2024 at 4:00pm pm in the gymnasium/Building 700.

Guests

  • Guest tickets are REQUIRED to enter the venue. See more information on guest tickets provided below.
  • All guests under 2 years of age may sit in the lap of a parent. All guest over 2 years of age will require a ticket for admissions.
  • The venue will open one hour before the ceremony starts.

  • Bag Policy: All students, guests, and volunteers attending the event are subject to our clear bag entry process. Backpacks, suitcases, and laptops are not allowed.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, we ask that you do not attend the ceremony.
  • Anyone deemed at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 by public health officials is strongly encouraged to view the live stream rather than attend the ceremony in person..
  • We encourage everyone in the Atlanta Metro community to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) recommendations, vaccinate, and wear a mask based on preference and assessment of personal risk.
  • Masks will be available at the front gate and graduate check-in.
  • For those unable to attend in person, a live stream link of the ceremony will be available at www.atlm.edu
  • This event is being recorded and photographed. By attending this event, you consent to your likeness, image and/or voice being recorded an/or photographed, and used by Atlanta Metropolitan State College, without compensation, for any purpose within Atlanta Metropolitan's mission, and you release Atlanta Metropolitan State College from any liability resulting from such usage.

Dress Code and Decorum

  • Families are encouraged to hold their applause until all graduates walk across the stage to allow everyone's name to be heard. Please be respectful to all of our students.
  • While Commencement has no official dress code, we encourage families to dress in a manner appropriate to the ceremony. Many of our families dress business casual to casual.
  • Graduates and guests are advised to monitor the weather forecast closely and dress appropriately for the seasonal climate.

Photo Finish

Jaudon Photography, your official graduation photographer, will take professional photos at the Commencement.

Restrictions

For the safety, security, and experience of all guests, the following items are prohibited:

  • Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed in or around the ceremony area. Anyone violating this code will be removed from the event.
  • Pets and therapy animals are not permitted. Service Animals are permitted.
  • Noisemakers, selfie-sticks, signs, inflated balls, and balloons are not permitted. Guests may bring flowers for their graduates.
  • No outside food or beverage allowed in the venue.
  • Strollers are not allowed in the venue and must be checked into bag valet (this includes car seat baby carriers). Exceptions to the bag policy will be made for medical and/or diaper bags in addition to cross body baby carriers - guests with medical and/or diaper bags must request an individual inspection from the gate supervisor.

Security Reminder

  • All guest and students will go through magnetometers, or walk-through metal detectors, prior to entry.

Parking

Parking for all Commencement ceremonies is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please follow the parking directions provided upon arrival.

Disability Access

Wheelchair seating accommodations will be available at a designated area on the quadrangle. An ASL interpreter will sign the commencement ceremony. A section of general admission seating will be designated for the hearing impaired. An AMSC usher can direct guests to the designated location.

Disability Parking (Permit Required)

Parking for guests with disabilities is available in designated areas. Disability Parking Permits are required to park in these areas.

AMSC is a tobacco-free campus.
