Office of Environmental Health, Safety, and Compliance
Atlanta Metropolitan College seeks to maintain high standards of workplace, academic and research laboratory safety. The College endeavors to sustain full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies in order to ensure proper treatment of human, animal subjects, laboratory and biosafety regulations.
AMSC's Compliance Program
The Office of Environmental Health, Safety, and Compliance oversees workplace, biosafety, academic and research laboratory standards. The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and Institutioal Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) ensure proper biosafety and animal use and care, respectively. The Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment oversees research involving human subjects. The Institutioal Reveiw Board ensures human safety and privacy.
Compliance and Safety Training and Certification
All research at Atlanta Metropolitan State College must receive prior approval by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety and post the certificate of approval in the research laboratory or space that the research is occuring. The application process for request of approval for research activities for the various types of research is provided below.

These trainings are designed to educate USG employees on the importance and benefits of properly recognizing and safely working with hazardous materials, commonly used chemicals, hazardous wastes, bloodborne pathogens, and proper use of fire extinguishers.
