About the Institutional Review Board (IRB)Mission The Institutional Review Board ensures that appropriate policies and procedures are implemented to ensure appropriate human subject research and related activities of Atlanta Metropolitan College employees and students. Responsibility The Institutional Review Board (IRB) has the responsibility to ensure that all research studies, including, but not limited to surveys, focus groups, interviews, data collection, recruitment, scientific research, and any other forms of related activities (e.g. participation in movies, productions, political activities) involving human subjects of Atlanta Metropolitan College (AMC) employees and students be conducted in a manner that fully protects the rights, welfare, confidentiality, and privacy of all AMC participants, as well as those of the College. In addition, the IRB ensures that all research involving human subjects comply with federal and state regulations. The IRB adheres to the Belmont Report and the policies and procedures of AMC in its deliberations to determine the approval of a human subjects research or related activities request. The IRB makes recommendations for human subject research proposals to the President's Cabinet or a designate of the College President for determination of the approval for all (internal and external) human subject research requests. News & Announcements March 1, 2010 - All requests for IRB approval should be submitted at least 45 days in advance to the date of the human research or related activity.
