Atlanta Metropolitan State College
Trailblazer Locker Now Open!
Under the guidance of The Office of Student Affairs and Dr. Lumpkin, AMSC has opened its Trailblazer locker. This is a service that provides food and other basic resources primarily for AMSC students, but also for faculty and staff in need. The Trailblazer Locker was opened with a ribbon cutting followed by a brief ceremony where the College President, Dr. Gary McGaha, and the Student Government President, both gave speeches. The President indicated that “we do this because we care,†and that all of us, at moments in our lives, have a need for assistance as we pursue an education; in which he encouraged the audience to always seek to obtain for a better standard of living. The Student Government President expressed appreciation on behalf of the Trailblazer student body for the thoughtfulness of the college to provide the food locker service to students. Dr. Lumpkin, who narrated the program, gave the audience a prospective on world hunger, and how blessed we are in America. That though at times it may appear we are not, there are other locations in the world that are further worse than we are. Dr. Lumpkin also proclaimed that putting things into perspective, we have so much to be grateful and thankful for, despite momentary needs in our life.
If you would like to support our efforts in caring for the AMSC community, donations are accepted year-round and can be donated in the form of money, food, and sanitary items.
